Soaring High

Web sighed, looking out his window at the dark clouds in the sky. He was frustrated, feelings of loneliness and boredom filling his heart. He wanted to do something, mess around and hang with the others, but they were all busy. Work, punishment, conflicting time-schedules conspired to keep then all apart. Web frowned. It wasn't fair. Rain started to fall outside, the weather affected by his darkening mood.
"Great," Web muttered. "Now I've made it rain. What else can go wrong?"
He dropped his head, banging it against the window frame, and closed his eyes. Visions entered his mind. He saw himself chasing cars with Lizard. Plotting with the girls. Drawing. Chatting. Role playing. All the good times he could have. Slowly a smile crossed his face as he realized something. He might be alone right now, but it wouldn't last. Eventually things would settle down. The others would finish what they needed to do, and the fun could begin again. Web looked up. The rain slowed to a drizzle, and he felt inspired. The loneliness would pass, that was obvious, so why was he upset. There was no reason he couldn't make his own fun and adventures while he waited. Web walked out of his room and headed outside. The drizzle pattered onto his head, but Web didn't care. It no longer seemed dark and miserable, but cool and refreshing. Web jumped, and beat his wings, soaring up high. He felt the wind in his face, and his smile grew bigger. Above him the clouds opened up, letting the sun shine through, and it lifted his heart. He would pass the time doing what he wanted to do. And then, when he was finished, he would meet up with his friends. Web laughed out loud, and flapped his wings as hard as he could, the clouds clearing up and a rainbow arcing across the sky.. Nothing was going to bring him down today. Nothing!
