Picking Up The Pieces.

Description

Guardian paused at the base of the ancient temple and looked up. The temple was his old home. It was where he was carved and given his duty. It was where he had 'lived' for thousands of years. And it was the sight of his greatest loss. Guardian like to revisit his old home occasionally, as it helped him to remember the reasons why he existed. He knelt down on one knee, showing respect for the ancient structure. As he did so, voices filled his mind, the memories and 'soul' of the temple communing with him and updating him about what happened since his last visit. Guardian smiled. The temple had remained unsoiled. He stood back up and slowly made his way inside. Guardian made his way through the temple towards the inner chambers, and eventually stopped along a dark corridor. The spot seemed unremarkable, but to Guardian it held special significance. A stain, evidence of an explosion, blackened the wall, and rubble littered the floor. Guardian knelt down once more and opened his mind, allowing the temple to speak again.
"She is here. She waits."
Guardian nodded and glanced about. The shadows darkening the corridor were no hindrance to him, and soon he had found what he was looking for. A small emerald green stone lay amongst the rubble, and he picked it up carefully. He turned it over in his hands, seeing the faint time-worn markings that indicated it had been carved by Mobian hands. To an outsider the stone might have seemed to be simply a worthless trinket, but Guardian knew it was so much more. Another voice, radiating from the stone, entered his mind.
"Greetings, Brother."
It was a piece of his sibling. His 'sister' who had been carved alongside him all those centuries ago, and like him, had been charged with protecting the temple's treasures. She had been destroyed by tomb raiders, blown apart with explosives, but while her body had been destroyed, her 'soul' continued to exist within her stoney remains. She had slipped into a deep sleep with the destruction of her body, but every now and then, a small piece of her woke up and called out to him. Guardian was currently holding one of her eyes.
"Greetings, Sister," he said quietly. "I heard you call out to me in my slumber. I've come to take you to your new home."
Guardian turned and started to leave the temple. He would take his 'sister's' eye back to his new home in the museum, and reunite it with the other pieces of her he had collected over the years. It might take decades, even centuries, but eventually he would find all her pieces, making her whole once more, and she would no longer be alone. Guardian smiled. It was the least he could do for his 'sister'.

You finally drew him!  Nice job.  The story shows you've given him a strong emotional connection with his "family", which is something I can definitely imagine him having, even if I never made it explicit in his profile.
