Finn the swamp monster stepped back and wiped his brow, scanning an eye over the freshly cleaned floor before him. He gave a satisfied sigh of contentment. It had taken him hours, but the floor was now so clean one could eat off of it. Finn could even see his own reflection in the bright white tiles. The swamp monster smiled at a job well done. He even began to wonder if Crimson the vampire bat would recommend him for a merit badge. Finn bent down and picked up his pail, making sure not to spill any of the dirty water within. Suddenly a loud bang surprised him, and Finn looked up in time to see the front door of the house fly open, a shaggy form bounding in. Finn's daydreams were shattered. Mud and muck was scattered everywhere as Rover the werewolf ran excitedly over to his friend and Spooky Scout troop-mate. A dirty, disgusting bone was held tightly between his powerful jaws. Finn's eyes widened in horror. His clean floor was now covered in muddy footprints, and he knew there was more to come. The swamp monster dropped his pail and raised his hands, hoping to stop the excited werewolf.
"ROVER, NO!"
Claws skidded on the tiles, and Rover face-planted, springing back up a moment later as though nothing had happened. He blinked as a lock of hair fell in front of his face. He shook himself to clear it away. More mud and dirt flew about, raining down onto Finn. Trembling with unbound energy, Rover began to speak, the bone dropping to the floor from his jaws. It rolled, leaving drool marks in it's wake.
"Finn! Finn! Look!"
Rover paused and looked about for his bone, pouncing on it and holding it up under the swamp monster's nose.
"Look what I found! I was digging down in the swamp, and I found this!"
Rover hugged the bone.
"I wonder what it's from? I bet it's from a dinosaur. Just think of it, Finn, we could have a dinosaur in our backyard! We'll be the only Spooky Scout troop to have it's very own dinosaur! I wonder if Crimson will let me dig the rest of it up?"
The werewolf frowned, oblivious to his friend's horrified whimpering, or to the mess he had created. Rover continued to talk, his excitement overflowing.
"Crimson would probably want to know exactly what it is though."
He looked at Finn, a toothy smile on his face as an idea came to him.
"Maybe I should ask Alexa first. I'm sure she could identify it. She's bound to have a picture of it in one of her books."
Rover nodded to himself and hugged Finn, leaving dirty hand-prints and drool spots all over the swamp monster's scout uniform.
"That's what I'll do, Finn. I'll ask Alexa, and then I can go see Crimson for permission to dig the rest up."
Without waiting for a reply, the werewolf ran off, leaving a trail of footprints behind him. Finn could only watch, his shoulders slumped in defeat. He looked back at the trail of destruction that Rover had wrought and once more picked up his pail. Slowly the swamp monster headed out to get fresh clean water and detergent. He was back to square one, but he knew he couldn't rest until he had the floor cleaned once more. It was going to be a long, long day...

...You're downright impossible to predict, 22, but this is a good story nonetheless.
