Aesop crouched by the hole in his bonded's wall with his head poked inside. He chirped rapidly, hearing the sound echo about.
Come out! Know you're there, Thief. Come out!
After a long search, and many stolen meals, the little blue firelizard had finally found the lair of his nemesis, the fuzzy brown tunnelcat. To make matters worse, she had the nerve to base it in his very home. He gave a long warble.
Can't hide! Can't hide!
From deep inside the hole Aesop heard a responding hiss. The tunnelcat was answering him back. He bristled. She was probably telling him to mind his own business! With his annoyance at the tunnelcat growing by the second, he pressed forward and almost wedged himself stuck.
Don't talk back! Thief doesn't talk back! Thief...
Aespo suddenly pulled back, knocking his head on the entrance as another though entered his mind, tugging at his senses.
Come play. Come catch. Pretty boys come play!
Aesop gave an annoyed snort. Who was interrupting him when he was telling someone off? Didn't they know he had better things to do? The thought came through again, stronger this time.
Pretty boys come play! Catch me! Play with me!
Aesop chirped to himself. It was obvious that he would never get anything done until he figured out what was going on. The little blue jumped into the air, blinking between as soon as he had enough height. He reappeared high above the weyr, the bright sun feeling warm against his back. Aesop looked about for the source of the cry.
Pretty boys! Lots of pretty boys come play!
Aesop turned, spotting a green firelizard flying straight towards him, her wings almost shining in the sunlight. She was the one calling out. The blue took a breath, preparing to scold her, but paused. There was something curious about her. She looked so interesting. Aesop felt something stir inside of him. He started to coo out to her, but was cut short when she shot right over his head, her back paw clipping his wings. Aesop tumbled from the collision, dropping a few feet before he could right himself. He watched as she flew away, the urge to forgive her for her rudeness at odds with his normal acerbic nature. He started to fly after her when turbulence buffeted him. A cohort of other males, their bronze, brown and blue hides streaking past through the sky, didn't even notice Aesop as they chased the flirtatious green. Aesop cried out.
Rude! Rude! How dare you? Say sorry! Say sorry!
The little bold blue beat his wings hard to give chase. He would catch those rude firelizards and tell them off for almost knocking him out of the sky. They would all cop a very severe scolding. Well, almost all of them. That green was kinda cute!
Aesop is my fan/original character
