I made this for Web

That looks good. I'm sure he'll like it

Yeah, I've already showed Web in my server. ^^

I'm still struggling to come up with a good P1P2 prompt idea. In the meantime, here's a question: if a wild bird-- nothing humanoid, just a random migratory bird-- were to attempt to fly over the blackstone walls, would the Praetorian Guard shoot it down for trespassing?

On the one hand, it wouldn't be practical for the Guard to have to intercept every dumb bird that tried to cross through Necropolin airspace, and besides, doing so would make them look paranoid to a comedic extent. On the other hand, animal shapeshifters (e.g. wild-shaping druids) are canon in this world...

It's OK mate. Please don't feel pressured to push yourself to hard to develop one. I know you'll find a hook soon

Good question.

Maybe in the past shape-changers have infiltrated, and the Necropolins didn't know. Maybe to prevent this, when Necropolins first closed its gates, a ward was cast over the walls, permiating into the stones. This ward creates a magical barrier. It doesn't stop things physically, but 'highlights them'. Anything 'magically disguised' (like using wild-shape magic) glows with illusionary light/flame, alerting the guard (that's why Tracy didn't glow. She wasn't transformed into a 'false form')

Maybe over the millennia, the necropolins forgot about this (fewer and fewer incursions to the point that they stopped, and the ward was forgotten)

Nowadays, they might see a bird glowing as it flies about, but find it a curiosity rather than a 'threat'. It's not until the current timeline that maybe a foreign wizard/witch/mage detects and recognises the ward, telling a Necropolin (someone entering market keep sees a bird glow. The guard checking their papers is shocked when the mage remarks about the ward's effect, leading to its rediscovery and meaning)

Now during their patrols the guard look out for glowing beasts that might be interlopers in disguise (I'd suspect that it's a rare event. Maybe someone on a dare to see how far into necropolis they can get, or a curious scholar wanting to study the city, or simply a travelling druid not paying attention to where they're going)

...okay, that's definitely not the straight yes or no I expected. That HAS to be worth telling a story about.

I imagine that, due to its obvious utility, a ward of such nature would be common enough to have a name. "Falseform Monitor Ward" - something like that.

I like that name (Falseform Monitor Ward), and it would probably be used mostly by foreigners. At some point after it was forgotten, Necropolins might have started calling the glow effect "Faun's Lights" after the goddess (since to them it affected certain animals/birds)

Since it rediscovery, both names would be used.

Maybe in the guard, there is a taskforce formed to patrol and look out for this. Individuals who 'look to Faun' are in the taskforce since they have closer ties to nature (believing they are best suited to deal with wild-shaped/transformed intruders)
